David Koper volunteered to assist the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) by deploying to Afghanistan for six months in Sep 2011 to Mar 2012, and seven months in Dec 2012 to June 2013. His reasons for deploying include two things: God and Country.
In theatre, Koper grew an affinity for the United States Armed Forces whose job it was to protect him. Security forces escorted him into and out of local Afghan communities as the Corps of Engineers tasked Koper with contract oversight on critical missions. Projects included pre-stressed bridge reconstruction in the Kapisa Province and construction oversight of Afghan Police Headquarters outside of Bagram Air Field.
While soldiers risked their lives to protect the USACE Engineer, Koper felt the desire to give something back that would improve the quality of life for all soldiers overseas. Knowing the internet access is limited and the downtime abundant, Koper decided to write Creating Wealth While Serving Your Country– The Serviceman’s Guide to Wealth Creation.
